Do your hunting clothes often smell like your dog, gas (if you store them in the garage), or better yet your wife's perfume? Here is an easy way to keep your hunting clothes smelling like the woods. My dad taught me this when I was young, and have used it ever since.

Start by buying a brand new large trashcan with a lid. Take the trashcan, and drill two holes at the top of it. You want the holes to be directly across the can from one another. Then find one of your old arrows (a wood dowel will work fine too)that you are not using anymore, and fish it through the holes. This will become your clothes rack.

Next, go outside and find some good clean dirt. I know your thinking "clean" dirt, how on earth do I find that. Not that clean dummy, I mean "clean" in the sense that your dog didn't pee all over it. Fill with a couple inches of dirt, and then top off with some clean twigs and leaves. You don't need to go overboard, just a little will do. Then go head and add any other woods type smells that are native to where you are hunting. I like to take some green cedar and pine twigs, and break them up into little pieces exposing some of that nice wood smell.

Now just carry the trashcan back to where you keep your hunting clothes. Boots can go in first, they work well at the bottom, then drape your pants and jacket over your arrow. I like to throw my hat and gloves down in there wherever they can fit as well. There should be plenty of room for all your stuff, I can often squeeze my mid-layer shirt in there as well. Then just top off with your new lid.

There you have it, a quick easy and cheap way to keep your clothes scent free this hunting season. After each hunting trip just return the clothes to the can, and pop the lid back on. Freshen up with more scents as needed, and always start completely new with different dirt, etc the next year. Enjoy!

You know this is a Damn good tip , just thinking of a way not to drill holes or a way to seal the holes so no possible scent can get in , I am a firm believer in scent cover up , see alot more deer when I do all the steps I can to cover scent.

Thanks man. Yea I didn't seal my holes, but thats not a bad idea at all. Just some simple caulk would take care of that. I made my holes the same size as my arrow, so they fit pretty tight, but maybe I'll add that. Just let it try for a day first so your clothes don't take on the caulk smell.

What we do at our house is store our hunting attire in a totes with earth scent wafers in them. I put them in there after I have washed them with earth scented detergent or another hunting attire detergent.
