HunterSpot.com

The social network site for hunters and fisherman.

My recent desert mountain ram hunt in Southern California was in 108 degree heat. I have often hunted in very hot weather. I will be hunting WHITETAIL on a filmed hunt in NEBRASKA in November and IOWA the first week of December. I was freezing in 23 degree mornings in Oregon last year. There's a lot of hype out there about the latest clothing to "keep you warm".
Any preferences in clothing types or brands from the HUNTERSPOT gang?

As someone who lives in the Caribbean and never see less that 70 degrees, I can tell you the only way I keep confortable when I travel north for hunting season is Hand Warmers.
I put them in my pockets, boots and when sitting in a stand, between my skin and undershirt.
It's the best way I've found to keep me comfortable and allow me to concentrate on what's going on around me
instead of trying to keep my teeth from chattering...

I took some of the advice posted here by my HUNTERSPOT friends. After my Nebraska and Wyoming hunting trip, where the temps ranged from 18 degrees to 65 degrees, the only thing that got (almost unbearably) cold were my toes.
Sitting in a metal tree stand from 5am until 10am was kind of tough on the toes. I went to BASS PRO this weekend and bought some of those $20 electric socks run by a C battery. I went home and put them on to test them, but I never really felt much warmth. I was comparing "thinsulate values" as Brad had suggested, but very few of the boots at BASS PRO had values on them.

Hi Samantha,

We certainly recomend the ScentbBlocker gear. Its is a bit pricey but is well worth the extra spend for a seasoned hunter such as yourself!
