Next time I'm down there I'll take and post some pics of the place we call the bone yard. It is Truley amazing to see an 8th of an acre covered in cattle bones. I suppose I could set up down wind of that place and shoot all the yotes I would like.

The first yote I ever shot was when I was deer hunting. I wish you luck. Another suggestion is if you don't trap see if you can find any local trappers. They may be able to help you that way. You might be able to find some on here or on some of the predator and trapping websites. I'd help you but I am a little far from you.

Thanks for the info. I think I may contact the uk extension and ask if their is anything they could do to help. In the mean time I think I will try calling or just sitting out and waiting. I have yet to deer hunt down there an not see several yotes.

I would definitely be working on that coyote population either by calling or trapping them. I imagine that same farmer is loosing calves to the yotes too. Calling can be fun. But remember it is a tool for wildlife management. Many people (nonhunters) do not realize the importance of predator control. I have seen many pictures of what predators do to young wildlife and calves. The pictures are not pretty. Not just the coyotes but the cats too. Not to mention the effects on the bird populations. Our pheasant and quail populations are way down here between the weather and predation.
The other question I'd have is what the state laws are for dumping cattle carcasses. Every state is different on their laws. This is what I found for Kentucky:
State law requires farmers to dispose of dead animals through an approved method within 48 hours of death. These methods include incineration, boiling or steaming, burying, removal by a licensed rendering establishment, disposition in a contained landfill or composting. These methods are outlined in the Kentucky Agriculture Water Quality Act under Livestock Best Management Practice No. 15. Improper dumping of an animal carcass in a stream, sinkhole or field is unlawful, said Amanda Gumbert, UK extension water quality liaison.

I have a serious coyote problem on one of my central KY farms. The neighboring farmer Has a large herd of cows on his place and loses several to old age/sickness etc... The problem being that he dumps them on the back field bordering my place. As a result I have tons of very healthy well fed coyots on my place. I have not seen a young turky or a fawns in 2 seasons on that place. I havent ever seriously hunted for predators and would appreciate any good sugestions. It looks fun.
