***A BIG CONGRATS TO LUELLA'S FATHER-IN-LAW ON AN AWESOME BUCK!!!***

My Father-in-law is AWESOME!!!
He's 74, has diabetes, had open heart surgery, a pace maker, multiple eye surgeries (and shoots a left handed bow because he can see better out of his left eye).
Lyle shot a BUCK yesterday while sitting in my treestand (grumble, grumble. the one I have only seen two bucks, a two point and a spike all season, so when it got cold, I shot a doe.). Glen(my husband) has seen this buck quite a few times during his hunts on the river bottom this year. Brian (my brother-in-law) named it The "Ben Lauden buck" (the one everyone wants to kill but no one can find).
This buck walked TEN FEET under Lyle, He made a beautiful shot, This buck then ran past my 12 year old, Justin and and husband, Glen's double stand, they said this buck was jumping 15 feet distances, as he ran by. Lyle shot this buck 2 days before the end of the season!

Here are some pictures I took of the buck in our garage, (Glen has the pictures of Lyle and the buck on his camera and will post them as soon as he gets it to the store.) If anyone deserves this deer I think Lyle does, He is more dedicated to archery hunting than anyone I know! Way to go DAD!!!!!
this is the unlimited draw hunt on the riverbottoms in south east Idaho.

**CONGRATS TO STEVE ON HIS 2008 NEW JERSEY BUCK!!**

**CONGRATS TO HEATH JOHNS WITH HIS 2008 ILLINOIS BUCK!!**

Here's the buck i killed last week in pike county, illinois. I saw this buck about 450 yards out in a wide open field and i watched i work his way to about 150 yards along the edge of a point that stuck out in the field. I thought he was going to go into the point so i got my primos can out and started calling to him and here he comes. He finally got to where i could shoot and i ranged him at 46 yards and thought it now or never. I drew back and grunted with my mouth 3 times and he never stopped and he was fixin to be where i couldnt shoot at him, so i just hollered "hey" and he stopped and looked my way and i let her fly. The shoot was perfect, double lunged him and he only ran about 60 yards and pilled up. Its my best buck to date. He's a 10pt that scored 136 1/8 and tipped the scales at 220 lbs. Down here in TN we dont have deer with bodies like that and my deer was just a 3 year old buck.

I took my oldest and youngest son on their first hunting trip. We went to VA. to my fathers. I sat with Eric(youngest) friday night in a box stand located in a green field. Eric was by himself sat.am and while scanning across the stream with his scope a large buck 10 pt 180 lbs tried to sneek past him. The buck got spooked and took off not being able to lead the deer he remembered what his pop taught him this past summer. So he whistled and the buck stopped, Eric lined up his sights and the rest was history, We estimated the kill at about 50 yards and he traveled about 100 yards after. I think my father was more proud and excited than I was. What a great week we harvested 4 bucks and saw 12 between the 4 of us.

I just moved down here to North Texas from Colorado and have yet to do any whitetail hunting, but people here are serious about it and love to tell their stories! I am planning on hunting in a few weeks. I hope I can have as much luck as some of you. If and when I get one, I will show the pictures.

Saterday evening My husband and I headed up to the tree stands where we have seen a lot of white tail buck tracks. We were arguing about who should have the new stand position. (the wind was perfect for that stand), I convinced him that he should sit it, because he did all the work of putting it there. I took the other one. All evening there wasn't a sign of anything, and it started to get dark. I drew my bow, and looked through my peep, I couldn't see much so I decided to stick my arrow back in the quiver. Just then I heard deer walking down the ditch bank. so I knocked my arrow and waited.. When he came out into my 30 yard opening I couldn't make him out well, but I could tell he was a mature buck at least a 5 point. So I drew my bow, and couldn't see anything! I sent a text to my hubby to let him know deer were headed his way when he texted me saying he shot a buck. His was a nice 4x4. I am heading out tonight and prob. every night until I see this big buck again hopfully the colder weather will force him out eairlier than dark. (and I thought I was only looking for any white tail buck!!!

I've been bow hunting here in South east Idaho on the River bottom unlimited draw hunt. I put in every year because it goes from september to December for Archery! There are both White tail and Mule deer there. I have harvested 2 white tail Does and a mule Deer buck, This year I am hoping for any white tail buck, and at least a 3 point Mule deer:).
