What does Obama's administration mean to us Hunters?

If you are like me, you are starting to wonder if the change in power will have much effect on the way we enjoy the outdoors. The way outdoorsmen across the country are behaving (running to the gun stores buying everything they ever wanted) seems to be an indication that a lot of people believe we are in for it.

What does everyone else think? He has said the right kind of things when he was running for election, but his track record shows a poor record for the Second Amendment. One of his appointees is starting to make some news now because of some pretty radical comments he has made in the past. If you have not heard of Cass Sunstein yet, read on:

If anyone else has any news or feelings on the new administration, let's hear them here. I definitely do not like the idea of these people with poor track records being in power. However, I try to stay optimistic and will try my best to give them a chance.

Perhaps what worries me most about Cass's comments, is that he is reportedly a good friend of Obama's. It seems to me that Obama has some very poor friend choices.

It is pretty scary. I just can't believe this country elected this guy.

There is a lot of information available on Cass Sunstein, be assured it is not sympathetic towards hunting in the U.S.A. Look at the starting line up of the Obama Administration, Barack, Biden, Clinton, and you have assembled an attack squad on your hunting and gun owning rights. Yes, I agree, Biden does have a horrible record, but look at Clinton's, yikes! Obama did not even finish one term as a Washington D.C. senator (and they questioned Palin's experience) so who knows where he would of ended up, likely in line with his team. http://www.ontheissues.org/Gun_Control.htm

Imagine a fund set up by Cass Sunstein followers where by an attorney represents the surviving family members of the buck you harvested this year. Pain and suffering damages are awarded them, say $1000.00 for every yard you had to track your prize. You loose in court twice, the $40 g's you shelled out to defend yourself with an attorney and the $200,000.00 you had to pay to the does/fawns 'cause you tracked their "dad" 200 yards. Then punitive damages to cover the fawns and does the buck will never get to "enjoy". Sound funny, not to Cass, who wants animal rights put on the level with human rights. http://www.dakotavoice.com/2009/01/animal-rights-radical-in-the-obama-administration/

Then consider the nominee for Attorney General, Eric Holder. He has followed gun control to a "t" every chance he gets. He is the top law enforcement officer in the nation???? Yikes again.

Like you, I am trying to be optimistic. I think my optimism is that this will mobilize those of us who enjoy the outdoors, specifically shooting sports, in a way we have never seen. I truly believe there is good in every situation and perhaps it will take this to wake every legal gun owning American up. All of us should be aware of our friends in Australia. Since making private ownership of guns difficult if not impossible crime is up, in fact, an increase in armed robberies of 45% and over one million automatic weapons of Chinese origin have shown up on their black market....go figure. http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=15304

For those of us like myself who have a passion for hunting/fishing and make a living connected with the outdoors we have seen almost a fever in purchasing items related with firearms since November. I hope all outdoor oriented folks take up their intellectual arms 'cause the next 4 years promises a wild ride.

Thanks for bringing this up, I hope everyone expresses their opinion/passion regarding this.

Yes, didn't even mention him. Biden has a horrible record on gun control, let's hope for the best.

I hope that all of you remember that Joe Biden drew up the 1994 assault weapon ban for looser Clinton. It will just be a matter of time before another one is put in place.
